Two persons who were arrested early on Sunday morning for organising a rave party near a creek in Gaumukh area of Thane, were produced in court on Monday. The two were remanded in police custody up to January 4 by the court.
Tejas Kubal, 23, a resident of Palava, Dombivali, and Sujal Mahajan, 19, of Kalva, Thane, had allegedly organised the rave party on Saturday night. They had charged Rs 1,000 as entry fee from each person and announced the details of the location on Facebook and Instagram just two hours before the party was to be held.
Acting on specific information, the Thane crime branch unit-5 officials along with others had raided the party early on Sunday and detained 90 young men and five women and seized small quantities of drugs like LSD, charas, ecstasy pills and marijuana at the party.
“All 95 were booked in a drug consumption (NDPS Act) case which has a punishment of one year. They were slapped with a notice under section 41(D) of CrPC and were allowed to go home. If their blood reports come positive for consumption of drugs then they will be subsequently chargesheeted and prosecuted. If their report come negative, their names will be discarded from the case,” said senior inspector Vikas Ghodke of Thane crime branch unit-5.
“Arrested organisers Kubal and Mahajan were granted four days police custody by the court. We are trying to find out the source of drugs. We are also inquiring about the owner of the land which was given to the organisers for illegally organising a party there,” Ghodke added.
