Cape Town International Airport has been named the best airport in Africa at the 2025 Skytrax World Airport Awards, reaffirming its status as the continent’s leading aviation hub.

In addition to the top regional title, the airport also received awards for Best Airport Staff Service in Africa and Cleanest Airport in Africa, according to results released by Skytrax on Tuesday.

The Skytrax Awards are based on a global airport customer satisfaction survey conducted between August 2024 and February 2025.

The survey gathered responses from air travellers of over 100 nationalities and assessed more than 575 airports worldwide on metrics such as check-in, arrivals, shopping, security, and boarding experiences.

On a global scale, Singapore Changi Airport was named Best Airport in the World and also won for Best Dining, Best Washrooms, and Best Airport in Asia.

Consistency in performance

Cape Town International’s recognition follows a separate 2024 ranking by aviation analytics firm AirHelp, which placed the airport as the top performer in Africa.

AirHelp evaluated 239 airports in 69 countries, scoring Cape Town 8.50 overall, with strong marks in on-time performance (8.6) and customer satisfaction (8.4).

The airport’s consistent accolades reflect its commitment to high service standards, efficient operations, and modern infrastructure.

South Africa cemented its dominance with Johannesburg International Airport, ranked 6th globally. Scoring 8.29 overall, the airport garners praise for its smooth operations and strong customer satisfaction rating of 8.3.
