As reported by the Kenyan newspaper, The Star, President Ruto recently revealed that he has reached an understanding with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to avoid politics that split the country.
Ruto said at a rally on Saturday in Kisumu that they will refrain from engaging in politics that jeopardize the unity of the Kenyan people.
“Raila Odinga AKA Baba and I have agreed that the old type of politics, politics of dividing people, and tribal politics will be a thing of the past. We will leave it behind, unite, and become one thing,” he stated
He then proceeded to solicit the goodwill of the people in the area, asking them if they welcomed the idea and if they would love to see these two politicians collaborate.
“Do you want us to unite? Do you want us to work together? Do you want us to cooperate?” he queried.
The Kenyan president also went on to say that his goal in forming an inclusive administration was to bring all Kenyans together.
“I constituted a Cabinet that will unite all Kenyans without looking at political alliances, communities, tribes, or parties because we are one; people of one nation with a common destiny,” he said.
“Did we do anything wrong when we agreed to work together? Do we proceed to unite the entire country?” he questioned.
Later at the rally, he made mention of Ralia’s bid for the African Union Commission chairperson seat, noting that all of East Africa seems to be behind him.
