RTA pilots co-working space at Burjuman Metro Station

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is introducing a co-working space with the Co-Spaces, called ‘WO-RK’.

The co-working space, which is scheduled to launch in Q2 2024 on a trial base, offers an easily accessible, affordable, and inspiring workspace within the Burjuman Metro Station.

“Co-working spaces offer innovative solutions and flexibility, in an ultra-modern conducive work and adaptable environment that actively supports a healthy work/life balance for all its members,” said Mohammed Al Hammadi, RTA’s director of Commercial and Investment.

Al Hammadi said the authority plans to expand the initiative to other favourable locations along the metro network, based on the success of the co-working space in Burjuman Metro Station.

WO-RK is situated within the Dubai Metro network and it offers seamless accessibility via the metro and other public transport modes, obviating the necessity for car commuting and contributing to last-mile transport solutions.

RTA said this not only aids in alleviating traffic congestion and lessens the carbon emissions caused by ‘first or last mile’ travel, but cultivates a sustainable urban environment, aligning with the culture of a progressive workspace.

RTA promotes hybrid workspaces

The co-working space embraces the notion of hybrid workspaces and caters to the evolving needs of individuals beyond conventional fixed work environments.

WO-RK goes beyond providing physical workspace by offering essential business support services. It streamlines the process of obtaining mainland licences, Ejari, and business addresses.

The business incubator facilitates the growth and development of businesses within its premises through educational and mentorship programs.

Shared spaces are designed to encourage socialisation, fostering connections among members through activities such as shared meals, meetings, and networking events.

The co-working space takes a holistic approach by organising various events, workshops, and classes to cultivate a sense of community among its diverse members.

The UAE co-working space market is valued at $73.8m in 2024 and is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.46 per cent to reach $105.8m by 2029, according to India-based research firm Mordor Intelligence.
