flydubai launches direct flights to Basel

Dubai-based carrier, flydubai inaugurated its first direct flights to EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, marking a significant milestone as the first UAE airline to serve this tri-national hub.

The four-times weekly service, which began on August 7, connects Dubai International (DXB) with the key European airport located at the intersection of Switzerland, France and Germany.

In a press statement, Jeyhun Efendi, SVP of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, emphasised the airline’s commitment to expanding access to underserved destinations and facilitating trade and tourism flows. “EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg serves as an important hub for travel, trade, and tourism in the tri-border region, benefiting our customers from the UAE and beyond,” Efendi said.

He also highlighted the convenience for European travellers to connect via Dubai to popular holiday destinations in Asia and Africa, such as Kenya, the Maldives, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.

Matthias Suhr, MD, EuroAirport, said, “With regular direct flights to Dubai, the UAE is now even easier to reach from EuroAirport, meeting the growing demand for travel to this region and enhancing connectivity for our tri-national region.”

flydubai expands European network

The addition of Basel brings the carrier’s European network to 29 destinations, including cities like Budapest, Milan and Prague.

The carrier’s route expansion aligns with its strategy to grow its presence across key markets in Europe and beyond.

The new service will be operated by Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays from Terminal 3, Dubai International (DXB).
