In a significant stride towards bolstering their defence and aerospace capabilities, EDGE, UAE-based leading global advanced technology and defence group, has entered into a strategic cooperation agreement with Adani Defence & Aerospace, a prominent Indian defence and aerospace company.

Defence collaboration

The newly inked agreement is set to create a robust global platform, combining the strengths and expertise of EDGE and Adani Defence & Aerospace, announced the official statement post the signing of the agreement.

This partnership will synergise their extensive product portfolios to meet the needs of both global and local markets. The cooperation will cover a wide array of domains, including:

  • Missiles and weapons: Encompassing airborne, surface, infantry, ammunition, and air defence systems.
  • Platforms and systems: Focused on unmanned aerial systems (UAS), loitering munitions, counter-drone systems, and unmanned ground vehicles (UGV).
  • Electronic Warfare (EW) and Cyber Technologies: Enhancing capabilities in electronic and cyber defence.

Expansion and innovation in R&D and production

A core component of this agreement is the exploration of establishing research and development (R&D) facilities in both India and the UAE. These facilities will be dedicated to advancing cutting-edge defence and aerospace technologies.

Furthermore, the partnership will look into setting up development, production, and maintenance facilities to not only cater to the needs of the UAE and India but also to serve markets across Southeast Asia and globally.

Hamad Al Marar, managing director and chief executive officer, EDGE Group, said: “Our agreement with Adani Defence & Aerospace, represents a significant milestone, strengthening our ties within India’s defence industry, and underscoring our mutual commitment to advancing UAE-India military ties.”

“This agreement reflects our dedication to bringing our customers the most advanced and sophisticated products to the market, while taking advantage of the global export potential including critical UAE-grown technology. We are keen to setup the joint platform between Adani Defence and EDGE to pioneer new technologies and set new standards in advanced military equipment and defence sector.”

The cooperation aims to leverage the strong technological and industrial bases of both EDGE and Adani Defence & Aerospace, paving the way for innovative solutions in the defence sector.

Strategic synergy for enhanced defence capabilities

Commenting on this milestone, executives from both companies highlighted the mutual benefits and strategic importance of this agreement.

Ashish Rajvanshi, chief executive officer, Adani Defence & Aerospace remarked, “Our collaboration marks the beginning of a new era in enhancing defence capabilities, emphasizing our commitment to advance technological prowess and promoting bilateral defence cooperation between India and the UAE. It is a reflection of our shared vision to fortify our nation’s capabilities by not just delivering cutting-edge solutions for the two countries but also setting new benchmarks in the global defence landscape.”

By aligning their strengths, EDGE and Adani Defence & Aerospace aim to significantly enhance their market offerings and contribute to the defence readiness of their respective nations and beyond.

This landmark agreement marks a pivotal moment in the global defence landscape, promising to drive significant advancements in defence technologies and operational capabilities through collaborative efforts.
