Days after Sadanand Date took charge as the Director-General (DG) of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the menu for the meetings chaired by him was among the first changes he made. Before him, at meetings under then NIA chief Dinkar Gupta, tea or coffee, along with a piece of cake, was served. Now, the only thing on offer is a glass of water!
Deviation From God
Ten newly-elected Rajya Sabha members were sworn in by Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday, but in the case of TMC MP Mamata Thakur, the oath had to be read twice. The MP took the name of “Shri Shri Hari Guru Chand Thakur”, the founder of the Matua philosophy, instead of saying “God” as per the prescribed format. The Chairman noticed the deviation and directed her to say the oath as prescribed, it is learnt. She then read the oath as required in Bengali.
Anthem Error
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is set to release new textbooks based on the National Curriculum Framework 2023 for students in classes 3 and 6 this year. Last week, the council announced that class 3 books were ready and uploaded to its website. But people soon spotted a glaring error in the national anthem printed in the Hindi textbook. An embarrassed council corrected it online.
