Bolt and Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) have inked a partnership to launch the UAE’s largest e-hailing platform.
The partnership was unveiled at GITEX Global during a signing ceremony between DTC and Bolt on Tuesday. The tie-up will be fully implemented by the end of this year.
Bolt will be DTC’s key partner in providing e-hailing services across Dubai. This collaboration is targeted at tapping the UAE’s Dhs6bn taxi and e-hailing market in the emirate.
“This is a landmark agreement that brings together DTC’s vast fleet of over 6,000 vehicles and Bolt’s advanced global mobility platform. Together, we aim to create a new mobility leader in Dubai,” said Mansoor Alfalasi, CEO of DTC, in a statement.
Bolt, which has a presence in over 600 cities globally, sees this move as part of its broader expansion into the Middle East.
Markus Villig, Bolt’s founder and CEO, noted, “Our long-term partnership with DTC will reduce the need for private cars, offering more sustainable and efficient transportation options for Dubai residents.”
The agreement will also support Dubai’s goal of transitioning 80 per cent of taxi trips to e-booking in the coming years, in line with the Roads & Transport Authority’s directives.
The partnership with Bolt follows its successful expansion in Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
