There are countless beautiful places to visit around the world, but only a few earn the reputation of being true once-in-a-lifetime destinations. According to a new ranking by CEOWORLD magazine, which compiled its list of the best countries to visit in your lifetime based on feedback from more than 295,000 readers — the highest level of participation in the publication’s history — certain destinations stand out for their enduring appeal and exceptional experiences.

South Africa is the first African country to appear on the list, ranking 6th globally with a score of 59.76.

The country, unique for having three capital cities, offers breathtaking landscapes that range from ancient mountains and subtropical forests to vast deserts, grasslands, wetlands, and bushlands.

Its legislative capital, Cape Town, is especially famed for its postcard-perfect beauty. The Cape Peninsula provides a dramatic backdrop for unforgettable photos, while the city offers world-class shopping, serene beaches, whale-watching spots, exceptional food and wine, and a vibrant nightlife scene.

For fossil enthusiasts, the Karoo region is a must-visit, home to some of the finest fossils of tortoises and mammal ancestors.

Egypt ranks 24th globally, earning its spot with a rich blend of ancient history and vibrant modern culture. The pyramids and Nile River remain one of Egypt’s biggest draws, offering scenic cruises, archaeological sites, and breathtaking sunsets.

A major new attraction is The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), described as the world’s largest archaeological museum.
