Outgoing French prime minister Lecornu: France must get a budget by end of this year

• Talks so far show that there is a desire to get this budget through by year-end
• Will present findings to president Macron this evening

Lecornu is the third prime minister in rotation after France saw the snap elections last year end in a hung parliament. Since then, political instability and uncertainty has been the name of the game. Macron has convinced Lecornu to stay on until Wednesday evening at least to try and force through a budget one final time. But as things stand, we might just be headed for early parliamentary elections instead.
