A doctor working at Shatabdi Hospital in Govandi was allegedly harassed and verbally abused by a patient and his friends on Monday, following which police registered an FIR.
According to police, Dr Sinhal Ganveer was on night duty when a patient named Ritesh Tayde and his companions including one Rupesh Wankhede arrived at the emergency ward.
Tayde had a fever and he told Dr Ganveer that he had consulted a doctor working in the earlier shift, who had asked Tayde to come the next day after doing a blood test.
According to the complaint, Ganveer checked him again and gave him a paracetamol injection and asked him to get the blood test done and come the next day.
However, Tayde and Wankhede insisted that the former be admitted to the hospital.
When the doctor refused, they allegedly questioned him about how others were admitted to the hospital and also started stopping Dr Ganveer from attending other patients. They also started recording a video of him.
When one of the security guards at the hospital tried to intervene, the accused allegedly rushed towards him to beat him and abused the doctor.
At this point, one of the doctors at the hospital called up the police control room.
The accused fled the spot after realising that the doctors had called up the police.
After the police team arrived at the hospital, Dr Ganveer went to Govandi police station where an FIR was registered against the two accused persons along with three to four others who had accompanied them.
An officer said that they are on the lookout for the accused and will place them under arrest soon.
