70% of Ghanaians believe the country is on right track – Global Info Analytics Poll

This marks a notable rise from the 62% recorded in the April 2025 edition of the same survey.

Pollster attributes shift to changing public sentiment

The findings, released on 1 July 2025 by Mussa K. Dankwah, Pollster and Head of Research at Global InfoAnalytics, indicate a significant shift in national mood. Only 20% of respondents now believe Ghana is heading in the wrong direction, a marked improvement from April’s 26%.

The survey, conducted online between 10 and 20 May 2025, sampled 1,092 registered voters through a probability random sampling method. The results carry a 99% confidence level with a margin of error of ±3.82%.

One of the key insights from the data is the widespread optimism across almost all regions. Every region, with the exception of the Ashanti Region, showed a majority of respondents affirming that Ghana is headed in the right direction. The Ashanti Region, long viewed as a political stronghold of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), stood out as the only area where this sentiment was not shared.

Positive economic indicators may be fuelling confidence

The spike in optimism aligns with recent economic improvements. In May 2025, the Bank of Ghana reported a notable appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against major currencies, which helped reduce inflationary pressures and lower the cost of imported goods and fuel.

Additionally, Ghana registered a substantial current account surplus in the first quarter of 2025, buoyed by strong export performance in gold and cocoa. Provisional GDP growth for 2024 was projected at 5.7%, while both the IMF and African Development Bank forecast Ghana’s 2025 growth between 4.0% and 4.5%.

Presidential address may have influenced sentiment

The timing of the poll may have contributed to the positive outlook. The survey period closely followed President John Dramani Mahama’s “First 120 Days in Office” address on 7 May 2025, during which he highlighted progress in economic recovery, governance reforms, and anti-corruption efforts.

Although challenges remain, the consistent upward trend in public confidence tracked by Global InfoAnalytics suggests that Ghanaians are beginning to believe in a brighter economic future. For many, the worst may feel like it’s behind them, with renewed hope that the nation is on a path toward long-term stability and prosperity.
