5.2 million pax to travel through DXB between Dec 13-31

Dubai International Airport (DXB) is bracing for a significant increase in passenger traffic as the winter holiday season approaches.Between December 13 and 31, the airport expects over 5.2 million travellers, with a daily average of 274,000 guests.

The busiest day of the period is anticipated to be Friday, December 20, when nearly 296,000 passengers are expected to pass through DXB.

The peak travel period will also include a busy weekend from December 20 to 22, with an estimated 880,000 guests arriving and departing during this time.

DXB geared to handle holiday rush

Essa Al Shamsi, SVP of Terminal Operations at Dubai Airports, commented on the upcoming surge, saying, “Managing the exceptional experience that DXB is known for during peak travel times is always challenging, but we are well-equipped to handle it through strong teamwork within the oneDXB family.

“We are thrilled to welcome millions of guests and to enhance their experience with festive activations. This year, the Family Zone at Terminal 3 will be transformed into a winter wonderland, featuring a unique blend of carollers and beatboxers, a Magic Station offering gift-wrapping and photo opportunities, a Nutcracker marching band, and much more. These activities are designed to surprise and delight our guests, making their journey through DXB truly unforgettable.”

The anticipated surge in travelers highlights Dubai’s growing global appeal, with its vibrant shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings, as well as its pleasant winter weather.

Among the projected traffic, 1.7 million guests will arrive in Dubai, while 1.5 million will depart, underscoring the city’s position as a leading international travel destination.
