HOWELL, Mich. (AP) — A Michigan lawmaker ordered to jail in a drunken driving case is accused of taping a handcuff key to his foot.
The important thing was found when state Rep. Jewell Jones, a Detroit-area Democrat, was positioned in jail Tuesday for violating bond circumstances, authorities stated.
“He really believes that he doesn’t need to comply with the decide’s orders, doesn’t need to comply with guidelines,” stated Livingston County Sheriff Michael Murphy, who runs the jail. “He’s the rationale that politicians and elected officers get the dangerous rap.”
Jones, 26, returned to courtroom Wednesday to face new costs over the important thing.
“Allegations on this matter allege the defendant taping a handcuff key to the underside of his foot with clear tape and was discovered by Livingston County corrections officers upon his incarceration,” assistant prosecutor Carolyn Henry stated in a courtroom submitting.

The sheriff stated he would not know why Jones had a handcuff key.
“On the finish of the day, of us are handcuffed to and from a facility. If somebody has a handcuff key, that’s a nasty day for us,” Murphy advised the Livingston Every day Press & Argus.
Jones has been out and in of courtroom since April when he was charged with drunken driving, resisting police and different offenses. That case is pending.
