White House press secretary Jen Psaki says binge-watching “The West Wing” helped encourage her to get again into politics.
Psaki began watching the award-winning TV drama after leaving the Obama White Home in 2011, feeling exhausted, she remarked during an appearance final week on actor Rob Lowe’s “Actually!” podcast.
“I am working at this consulting agency and I began watching ‘The West Wing.’ And I do not know what prompted me to look at it, however I watched, I binged, all the factor,” Psaki stated.

“In a loopy approach, it actually introduced me again to return again to politics and I ended up coming again and doing the 2012 marketing campaign, and touring with then-President Obama on his reelection,” Psaki added. “So I used to be principally gone for like six months, after which I assumed to myself, ‘I’ve bought to return, I’ve bought to return.'”
Within the TV collection, which led to 2006, Rob Lowe, 57, performed fictional Deputy Communications Director Sam Seaborn.

Psaki, 43, first started as deputy White Home press secretary underneath Obama and was later elevated to the position that the character of Seaborn held within the collection.
Psaki remarked that Lowe’s character of Seaborn was inspiring due to the character’s idealism within the present, which she referred to as “one of the best of [what] Washington is.”

“So in different phrases if you’re up there getting grilled by [Fox News White House correspondent] Peter Doocy, you’re pondering, ‘goddamn Rob Lowe’s the one who put me up right here. Aaron Sorkin [the show’s creator], and Rob Lowe and “‘The West Wing,'” said Lowe.
“All of your fault,” replied Psaki.

On Jan. 20, 2021, Psaki made her debut within the White Home Briefing Room as President Biden’s press secretary.
“I by no means thought I would be again within the White Home,” Psaki instructed Lowe through the podcast. “And now I get to work with all of those people who find themselves part of the press group or are earlier of their profession than I’m, of their 20s or early 30s, who’ve that idealism that’s like bursting out of their pores that makes you wish to be right here every single day.”
