US Presidnet Doand Trump on Friday announced that all Executive Orders passed under the previous Joe Biden administration and signed with an autopen have been cancelled.
“Any document signed by Sleepy Joe Biden with the Autopen, which was approximately 92% of them, is hereby terminated, and of no further force or effect,” Trump said in a post on Truth Social.
Cancelling all orders signed with autopen
According to Trump, the Autopen is not allowed to be used if approval is not specifically given by the President of the United States.
He also insinuated that Biden aides had taken away the Presidency from him.
“I am hereby cancelling all Executive Orders, and anything else that was not directly signed by Crooked Joe Biden, because the people who operated the Autopen did so illegally,” Trump said.
He also suggested that if Biden was involved in the Autopen process, he would face perjury charges.
“Joe Biden was not involved in the Autopen process and, if he says he was, he will be brought up on charges of perjury,” Trump said.
Trump’s criticism of Biden over autopen
Trump has regularly criticized Biden for the use of an autopen, which has been a common practice past presidents as well. Trump himself has used an autopen to sign certain documents during his first term.
But Trump used the autopen to target Biden, to suggest that his predecessor was not the one taking decesion while he was in office.
In October, the Republican-led House Oversight Committee, which investigated the matter, released it report stating that the autopen-signed actions were invalid and called for a Department of Justice review.
In September, when Trump unveiled the Presidential Walk of Fame at the White House, displaying portraits of all past US presidents, there was a photograph of an autopen instead of a presidential portrait of Biden.
Even on Wednesday, when he issued presidential pardons to two turkeys on Thanksgiving, Tump had suggested that the pardons issued by Biden the previous year were invalid as they were signed with an autopen.
